Water Revolution - Awaiting

Water Revolution - Awaiting

Few years ago a civil engineer suggested linking of Rivers to cater for the future requirement of water across the nation. A survey was conducted and an estimate was also prepared. A committee was organized with a name India's National River Linking Project ( http://www.nrlp.iwmi.org ). Lot of work done and something was done as well as could be seen in Gujarat. A few people got relived and nation saw them getting life.

Few expectations also grew, to die! It was something like Lagan movie's first scene where farmers were awaiting the clouds to rain but the efforts to be optimistic was also very hard as was played well by the actors. The situation with the people of this nation and now can be said for the whole world is similar. We all see towards the sky for good rain though office goers in Delhi & Mumbai see towards the sky and prey not to rain. Reason is known though very much foolish - "Traffic Jam due to water logging".

Before we start the river linking project or I should say parallel to the river linking project should we not clean our drains and rivers to allow them carry more water during rains and avoid wastage of water. lot is done on the name of rain water harvesting but these concrete roads do not offer any relaxation towards water going underground.

Today I saw a Municipal corporation tanker carrying the water spilling on the road and driving without thinking that even this much water could help someone live for a day. While Jal boards are asking for money to construct sewage treatment plants lot of untreated sewage goes to drains for want of few spares and parts of the plant.

Should we not bring a water revolution like we did for Green revolution. This is the high time a water revolution takes place.

Awaiting a water revolution. I did my first bit, what about you........
